It is a different world that our profession faces in the coming years. Governance issues, DHB relationships, a changing insurance market and increasing professional regulation are issues that all surgeons face. Facing up to the challenges of this new environment is the theme of our meeting, as we try to keep “Orthopaedics in Perspective – Facing up to the Challenges”.

We all lead busy lives, and there are a number of excellent subspecialty meetings and educational courses all over the world. This year, the conference is aiming to engage all members in strong and constructive discussions about the real issues that face us a profession. This style of conference relies on you, the members, to come along and tell us about your hopes for Orthopaedics in NZ.

We have an exciting sports programme with fishing on the beautiful Waitemata, mountain biking the Waitakeres, Tennis at Stanley St and best of all Golf at the beautiful Titirangi course – designed by Alister MacKenzie who also designed Augusta National. The partners’ programme will showcase some of Auckland’s best dining and clothing designers, and our social programme will culminate in our gala dinner at Auckland’s famous War Memorial Museum.
